In our outsourced accounting solutions, we use the Pastel Accounting software.  Depending on the size of the company involved, we use either Pastel Partner (smaller SMMEs) or Pastel Evolution (larger SMMEs).

Pastel Accounting is renown as the most reliable accounting software for SMMEs and also has credible technical support processes.  Our accounting staff are adequately trained in Pastel Accounting and attend Continued Professional Development courses from time to time.

For purposes of Payroll Administration, we use Pastel Payroll which is also a credible, tried and tested system.  We use it for monthly payroll adminstration as well as for the six monthly employee tax reconciliations that are submitted to SARS.

For purposes of preparing annual financial statements, we use CaseWare software supplied by CQS Technology Holdings.  CaseWare is kept up-to-date with periodic updates in International Financial Reporting Standards.  Further, the ability of CaseWare to import the Trial Balnce and General Ledger from Pastel Accounting saves a lot of time – with the benefit being transferred to the accouniting client by saving accouniting fees.

We also provide secretarial services and will act as the company secretary: the preparation of the required documentation and minutes relating to the company’s annual general meetings; additional ad hoc secretarial duties e.g. the appointment and resignation of directors, and any changes in shareholding.

Our accounting and tax compliance services include a number of offerings that are particularly designed for privately owned companies and their owners (SMMEs). Our services will ensure that the business owner is left to focus on running their business, while we take care of their accounting work.  As a smaller accounting firm, we are geared at partnering with SMME companies and offer personalised services.

Over the past years, we have gained experience in assisting SMME companies.  To this end, we have adopted a “Good Practice Checklist for Small Business” developed by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).  We  hand these checklists to our clients with a view to help them appreciate the value of financial management and controls in their businesses.  Where the needs arises, we workshop our clients staff on the checklist.

 Our services include the following:

  • Writing up the cash book and general ledger
  • Preparing the bank reconciliation on a monthly basis
  • Accounting of purchases and expenses (including supplier general ledger)
  • Accounting of income from the relevant system
  • Maintaining an asset register, which includes:
  • documenting of all the assets according to their asset category;
  • calculating depreciation on a monthly basis according to Practice Note 19 of the SARS
  • Preparing a balance sheet and income statement on a monthly basis for management and control purposes,
  • Preparing the annual financial statements of companies, close corporations, NGO’s and sole traders in accordance with GAAP and IFRS’ and
  • Preparing VAT returns.

We also provide these services to business owners in their personal capacity i.e. where they run a business as a Sole Trader, as well as to trusts. Our services include the compilation of personal financial statements, personal tax returns, and tax compliance services, namely:

  • Submission of provisional tax returns;
  • Obtaining extensions if necessary;
  • Preparing and filing the year-end tax return; and
  • Scrutinizing and reviewing the final tax assessment and lodging an objection where there are excessive assessments.
